This is an amazing story that follows Eddie through his death and his discovery of Heaven. Each person that Eddie meets explains the ways that their lives had been affected by Eddie or even by something he did. We are shown that our lives are all inter-connected and that everything that happens is a reaction. The five people that you meet will help you to understand the meaning of your life. Like in his book, Tuesdays With Morrie, Mitch Albom has a gift for writing books that leave you wanting to be a better person. For me this book was reflective and inspirational. It is very fast reading and easy to get through in the better part of a day. A day well spent.

Best Line:
“No life is a waste,” said the blue man. “The only time we waste is the time thinking that we are all alone.”

From the first page, we know that the main character, Eddie, is going to die, and soon. Initially, Heaven is not what Eddie thinks it should be, but then he meets the first person in his afterlife, The Blue Man. Among other things, The Blue Man explains that Eddie will meet four more people that are necessary in his journey. I was surprised by each person Eddie meets, except one, and the last person Eddie meets wasn’t who I expected it would be either. This is a quick read and I enjoyed the story in this diminutive book. I even liked that the beginning of the book was The End. The only thing I didn’t like about this book is that it ended.

Best Line:
“This is the greatest gift God can give you: to understand what happened in your life.”
